Employment and employee rights

  • What are my rights as an employee? As a Truster employee in Sweden you are covered by the Employment Protection Act (LAS) and, where applicable, a collective agreement. These give you rights such as a minimum notice period, protection against unfair dismissal, paid holiday (at least 25 days a year, or holiday pay in place of days), limits on working hours and rest periods, and the right to written information about your employment terms. Your specific terms are set out in your employment agreement.
  • What does my employment agreement include? By law you must receive written information covering: the parties and your workplace, your job title or duties, start date and type of employment (permanent, fixed-term or probationary), applicable notice periods, salary and how often it is paid, working hours, paid holiday entitlement, and which collective agreement (if any) applies. This information must be given no later than 7 days after you start.
  • What happens if my employment ends? Your final payslip includes any outstanding salary, accrued holiday pay, and any other amounts owed. If you are permanently employed and the employment is terminated, the statutory minimum notice period under LAS depends on how long you have been employed — from 1 month (under 2 years) up to 6 months (10 years or more) — unless your employment agreement or a collective agreement sets a different period. A fixed-term employment ends on the agreed end date unless otherwise agreed.
