Does YEL apply to you?

YEL insurance becomes mandatory once the estimated confirmed income from your entrepreneurial work exceeds €9,423.09 per year (2026) and your activity continues for at least four months. This also applies to light entrepreneurs: the threshold is calculated based on confirmed income, not invoicing, and your confirmed income must reflect the actual value of your work.

With Truster, you handle your YEL insurance directly in the app in partnership with Ilmarinen: you can see an estimate of your YEL obligation based on your invoicing, and set up the insurance without any separate paperwork. As a new entrepreneur, you get a 22% discount on your contribution for the first four years. Keep in mind that your YEL confirmed income affects not only your pension but also your sickness allowance and other social security benefits, so it's not worth setting it too low.
